Hum is an offline tone, noise, and binaural-beat generator operated by Faba Development / Luke Fairbanks (“we,” “us”). This notice describes the app’s current data handling.
Hum does not require an account and has no sign-in. The app code does not send your saved mixes, favorite frequencies, settings, or any app-generated identifier to developer-controlled servers. It does not use cloud sync, advertising, or cross-app tracking.
The released build ships without an analytics key configured, so the bundled analytics SDK is inert and no usage events leave your device. If a future release turns analytics on, this notice will be updated first to describe what is sent.
Apple, your device manufacturer, and the app store may independently process app downloads, purchases, backups, and diagnostics under their own terms. We may receive aggregated App Store analytics or diagnostics that you choose to share with the platform.
Hum does not record. The app synthesizes every sound it plays — tones, noise, and binaural beats are generated on the device from numbers, not captured from your surroundings. It never requests microphone access, and its audio session is configured for playback only.
You may still see a microphone entry listed for the app. Hum is built on a general-purpose audio library that includes recording capability, and Apple requires a stated reason from any app whose code references those APIs, whether or not it uses them. Hum does not use them, so iOS will never show you a microphone permission prompt — if it ever does, that is a bug and we would want to hear about it.
The app stores the following in its local application storage:
This information is protected by the operating system’s app sandbox. Hum does not add separate application-level encryption to its local storage. Device backups may retain app data according to your operating-system and backup settings.
Hum continues playing while the app is in the background or the screen is locked, and registers standard playback controls. The name of what is playing appears on the lock screen, in the notification area, and in the Dynamic Island, so it is visible to anyone who can see your screen. This information stays on the device.
Hum Pro is sold through the App Store. Two parties are involved:
Hum does not create a RevenueCat identifier tied to your name or email address; the app uses an anonymous identifier generated on the device.
If you restore purchases, the same information is used to match your Apple account’s prior transactions to your Pro entitlement.
The app may ask Apple to show its standard rating prompt after a few sessions. Apple controls whether the prompt appears and what you submit. We do not receive the rating or any review text through the app.
Local data remains until you delete individual mixes, uninstall the app, or the operating system clears the app’s storage. Device backups may retain copies separately.
Purchase and entitlement records held by Apple and RevenueCat are retained under their own terms, because they are what allow a purchase to be restored on a new device. To request deletion of the RevenueCat record associated with your device, email us with “Hum privacy request.”
Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription. Manage or cancel it through the App Store’s subscription-management screen.
Hum is a sound generator, not a medical device. It is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any condition, and we make no claims about health effects of any particular frequency.
